Alzheimer’s Laboratory: 60 Minutes Episode on Early-Onset Cases in Colombia

On Nov. 27, 2016, 60 Minutes aired a segment, Alzheimer’s Laboratory, on a group of residents in Antioquia, Colombia that might hold the key to unlocking the mystery of Alzheimer’s Disease. Correspondent Leslie Stahl reported on a unique extended family with a genetic mutation that causes early-onset Alzheimer’s in 100 percent of individuals with the defect. Scientists are conducting research of a drug to prevent the disease.
